WIFW A/W 2012: Day 4 Highlights
Here’s a recap of what happened on Day 4 at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012.
Summer on the ramp
The rising mercury in Delhi was uncannily reflected in the collections we saw with vibrant spring colours on garments and accessories.

Black, teal and wine!
If the brights lit up the ramp, the richer colours made a sparkling presence too. Rahul Mishra’s sheer blacks with hints of wine added a dash of sophistication.
At Sanskar, Sonam Dubal traced the journey of the global nomad through handblock prints, printed silks and wool capes and velvet jackets in black, white, blue, burgundy and saffron.
BTW, I loved Ritesh Kumar’s innovative colour blocking with grey, black, white and teal.
Reworking the silhouette
Draped t-shirts, kimono silhouettes, partly structured and collapsible skirts, and twisted ponchos—it was all happening at Sanchita!
Payal Jain layered her models with nonchalance, while Vijay Balhara paired anarkalis with jackets, and gave three lengths in a single look. (Below: Payal Jain, Vijay Balhara)![]()
The embellishments mix
Charu Parashar’s applique of coloured prints and accents added an extra dimension to her vintage floral prints.
Vijay Balhara’s “junk glamour” collection used cut daana, salli and zardosi work, along with junk embellishment (which are embroidery props thrown in).
Accessory picks (lots of them!):
Neckpieces from fabric and beads at Monapali. And the footwear!
Cummerbunds at Priyadarshini Rao.
Hats by Julian Parr and Essa es Asi at Sanskar by Sonam Dubal.
More head gear- this time at Charu Parashar.
Cute bags and earmuffs at Ritesh Kumar.
Jewellery from Amrapali at Vilasa by Rocky S.
Bridal wear show of the day:
There was only one—Vilasa by Rocky S. Was happy to note that even subtle colours like ivory, cream, beige and off-white can be worn on festival occasions.
Customary Bollywood appearance of the day:
Also at Vilasa by Rocky S- Bipasha Basu and R Madhavan.
