Chic Trend: 5 reasons to wear linen this summer
These days, I’m smitten—with linen! It’s tough to make me fall in love with a trend, but this time I’ve fallen hard. Linen pants and jackets have been around for a while now, but only recently I’ve started linen fashion seriously.
And here are some reasons you should be serious about linen this season:
Reason 1: It’s bang on trend
Linen is really hot among the high street brands currently (more on that in the next post), but it’s not as commonly boring as say, the skinny jeans trend or florals. Not yet.
Reason 2: The new wardrobe classics?
Linen shirts, jackets and pants are well on the road to becoming wardrobe classics. With the right colour choice, fit and brand (for quality, comfort and durability), your favourite linen garment could be part of your closet for a very long time.
Reason 3: Linen is not boring!
At Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012, ace designers Anita Dongre and James Ferreira highlighted linen in their collection. While I loved James Ferreira’s linen kurtas, Anita Dongre’s linen shirts in delicious colours like pink, turquoise and lime, linen blazers in neutrals, and trousers in burnt orange and yellow were wonderful as well. Moral of the story- linen can be fun!

Reason 4: Linen keeps you cool
Think of a linen garment as a wearable air conditioner. With the summer sun beating down mercilessly, what more could anyone want? And oh, I have to write this irresistible cliché: Look cool, stay cool.

Reason 5: They are versatile
Linen clothes can be worn almost everywhere, from a board meeting to a wine-tasting evening, from shopping to Sunday brunch. And linen clothes are great to wear on vacation too! Pack them right away if you’re going on holiday.
