Bollywood Fashion: 4 chic ideas to get Vidya Balan’s The Dirty Picture look

December 17, 2011

If you haven’t seen Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture yet, you’re probably stuck in 2010. For almost every person who’s ogled at her there has been someone else who has admired her gutsiness to display her flab and don tighter-than-skin and super-short clothes. (FYI, Vidya Balan’s costumes have been designed by Niharika Bhasin Khan).Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture purple sari

Of course, I don’t recommend anyone wear the clothes she’s wearing and exactly how she’s wearing them, but if you’re seeking Vidya “Silk” Balan fashion inspiration, here are some ideas:

Wear red and bright colours—in the same outfit!

Silk wants to stand out from the crowd, she’s bold and confident and what better way to do that than to wear bright colours. In The Dirty Picture, I saw Vidya Balan in red, bright pink and purple.

Pile on the bling

It’s party season so it’s the perfect time to wear bling. Think metallic-finish jackets, trousers and skirts, purses, earrings and shoes. Vidya Balan wears tight sequinned dresses in a number of scenes.

Add a golden touch

Agreed, gold is unaffordable these days. But there’s nothing to stop a girl from wearing faux fashionable jewellery. So neckpieces, earrings, bangles—bring them on!

Reveal carefully

Vidya Balan’s carefully crafted look in the movie was aimed to titillate by revealing more than the “usual”. But that’s not for gals like us, so flaunt what you will but do it judiciously and cover more or jut as much as you reveal.

Are you ready to don the Dirty Picture look?
